I have 2 Windows Server 2008R2 machines. The Drives on both are 19 TB, the main one currently have 14 million files taking 6 TB of space.
I am trying to sync the files from the source machine to the second machine. I heard about DFS Replication so I tried it.
In testing, I created a folder on both machines, in one, I put 1 gig of data, on the other, I put 1 text file.
(I only used the replication, I did not use NameSpace)
I setup the Replication on server 2, and it copied all of the files from the source machine (as expected)
Yet I noticed the text file that I had on the second machine (that I was expecting to get replicated to the first machine) disapeared.
It was not on the first or second machine.
In trying to figure out what the issue is, I found that the replication cannot handle the number of files I currently have, it will only be growing.
I still would like to find out why my text file went away.
