I have 2 windows 2003 member servers, both have SQL databases with client side applications accessing them. The 1st server is hosting a sage databse and the 2nd server is hosting a webbased HR application.
After rebooting and patching both servers last weekend for windows updates I am seeing strange errors within the applications on both servers. The errors received are intermitent but all display cannot access the required file, permission denied.
I have checked the security permissions on the files and all are correct.
One thing that has confused me is when I check the file permissions several of the users and groups names are initially displayed as SID's. After a short wait 10 -15 seconds these convert to names.
After I check the permissions on the files effected the users / applications are then able to access the file without issue.
I have checked the event logs and cannot find anything to explain this behaviour. Updated AV and ran complete system scans. Ran netidiag.exe on both servers with nothing explaining the issue.
Many thanks for any help,
