Here's the scenario
I have one Fileserver- Dell PE2950, currently 2 logical drives RAID 5 and 0, split into c,d and e. D and E for Data. NOS is Server 2003 Sp1 (previous admin didn't do much). Drives are 140Gb. I need to do a couple of things. I am putting in 6 500Gb drives, to boost space and make both RAID 5. I am staying with Server 2003 b/c of HW.
In off hours, I have loaded the new drives with OS and partitioned them out. The last thing I need to do is move the data and ensure file shares,permissions, and security move/migrate. I have a backup program (storagecraft) that takes snapshots of the disk, to move the data. It looks like from what I read that all I need to do then is export the reg entry for the files shares and be done, but that seems too easy. What am I missing? I am concerned with the Server one being SP1.
