Pointing DFS clients to a specific server

Here is the setup,

We have 2 physical sites(for ease i am calling them Office and Plant) connected via a Microwave antenna that gets about 70Mbps,

Both sites share the same subnet and are therefore considered the same site in AD Sites and Services

We are using DFS on Server 2008 R2

We have a server in both locations replicating accross the antennas.

Sometimes users in the office when connecting to the shared drives connect to the plant, and vice versa.

Users ofter open very large files on these shares, and often find they are connected to the server accross the antenna when they try to open a large file and it takes a few minutes.

Is there a way to ensure users at the plant access the server there and the office users access the server here?

Subnetting is not an option, because my boss says he was once told by someone that it does not need to be for users to access the closer server(the one on their side of the antennas).

All users use all shares, so setting the "Override Referral Ordering" switch will work for some users, but be determental to others.
