Hi there,
Server 2008 SP2 64 bit
I know this has been posted before but there was no answer:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/winserverfiles/thread/c183d5f5-e107-4c30-8fc3-8791fa0433a0
Situation:
The current server already has several drives set up. All of them are connected to Dell EquallLogic storage.
Normally when we set it up and assigned a drive letter, it will automatically created an admin share of \\SERVER_NAME\[drive_letter]$
But I've just noticed this recently when using Share and Storage Management
console from a Windows 7 pc connecting to the file server.
One of the share has a red circle with white cross on it, saying there was an error with the share.
When I logged in to the server, the share itself is fine.
But then I noticed the error from my Win7 pc when right-clicking the "broken" share > Properties ...
It produced an error message:
Share-Name
\\SERVER_NAME\letter$\share_name: Cannot verify that the folder exists. The network name cannot be found.
Sure enough, that particular drive has no admin share. Others have. And they're from the same storage box.
I've tried to manually create a hidden share, example: G$
But it won't let me, saying that the share name already exist.
Any idea?
