Hello
We run a couple of Windows 2003 file servers that have NetBIOS disabled for security reasons and best practices. Windows XP clients and other Windows 2003 servers can connect just fine to these file servers using CIFS (port 445), however, Windows 2008 servers cannot. By running a network trace I was able to confirm that Windows 2008 tries to contact these file servers using only NbtNs (port 137) and gives up when it gets no response from the NetBIOS-disabled file server. How can I get Windows 2008 to use CIFS, just like Windows XP and Windows 2003?
Thanks
Olli
