I've just deployed a new Server 2008 R2 SP1 with role intent of file server.
I've been trying to use add a member with replication to an existing DFS folder. Replication services are on the new server, but not namespace-server services.
I haven't been able to get through the wizard successfully. Each time it errors out on the second step "Create shared folders" with: \\HYDRA\Projects: The folder target \\HYDRA\Projects cannot be added to the folder. The folder target already exists.
So... it never gets to the steps of "Add member to replicated folders" and "Add connections".
I've been able to add connections manually, but for memberships, the new server has <Not Defined> under "Local Path". When I try to edit the properties I get the error "the membership object has not replicated to the local domain controller". I tried to resolve this AD syncs and dfsrdiag pollad (as indicated by search results for this error) without success. Poking around in ADSIEdit confirms that there is no msDFSR-Subscription leaf object under the msDFSR-Subscriber node.
So I delete the errant member and try again. But I still find myself back in the same situation.
My intent is DFS share: \ \Namespace\shares\Projects With replication to/from one of existing two servers with the share. All of the shares are named Projects. The physical location of the the share on the new server is to be D:\NetworkShares\Projects (same as one of the other two).
What am I stubbing my toes on? Am I some how confused over something simple, or is there something more subtle going on with DFS or my newest server?
Any help would be appreciated.
