Scenario: Dual hub and spoke WAN architecture. 30Mbps between hubs and 3Mbps spokes. Each branch office has a single physical server running 2008 R2 Core with 2 Hyper-V VMs (1 DC and 1 File Server). Plan to use DFS to replicate data between branch offices and their respective core office. Also plan to create a Windows Server 2012 gateway in each core office for our NetApp filer heads so the branch replica data can be stored on NetApp SMB shares. All AD DCs are 2008 R2 but AD is in 2003 mode.
Question: Do we A) stick with 100% 2008, B) upgrade all servers to 2012, or C) go with 2012 on the gateway servers only? If we use 2012 at all, are 2012 AD schema extensions necessary?
Thanks in advance...
