Adding existing SAN Storage used by VMware to new Windows 2012 Server

Hi all,

We have 4 esxi 4.0 servers that host VM servers stored on an iSCSI attached Dell MD3000i.

I've now got a new server that I've installed server 2012 standard on, that I want to use as a Hyper-V host for more, new VMs.

I've set up the iSCSI initiator on the new server, and all the 'Virtual Disks' on the SAN appear in Disk Managment as new Disks. They are all offline, and if I attempt to bring them online, they come online, but unfortunatley require formatting before they can be made an accessible volume.

This is, of course not what I want because the disks store live VMs that are hosted on VMware.

Can anyone help with the procedures for sharing SAN storage between different host types? I've searched around but come unstuck. I cannot format the disks.

Many thanks

Dave
