We had 2x Server 2008R2 joined in a domain-based DFS namespace and replication. We since lost one server due to both hardware and human error, so now we have a single 2008R2 currently serving our files.
I just bought 2 new file servers with upgraded capacity, we decided to go with server 2012 to take advantage of some of the new features as well as future-proofing our file storage environment. Those two server are to be used to replace the other 2 file servers i had before.
I'm unsure how to proceed, should I join both new file servers to the current DFS namespace/replication and then decommission the old remaining server once everything is replicated? Should i just start from scratch?
Is there a best practices to perform such actions already?
