Hello Everyone,
I am currently testing "Redirected Folders" with "Offline" support in a test environment before switching on for production.
I would like to ask is there a problem using a path similar to the following as the destination for redirected folders ?.
\\servername.domain.....\SHARE\UserData\%username%
In general seems to work OK but when using this folder structure we experience the Sync Failed problem described below. However, we don't experience this issue if the "userdata"subfolder is removed from the path.
Unfortunately in production it's not possible for use to remove the UserData folder from the path. We are using a NetApp NAS appliance and to implement a DFS namespace we will need to use a "UserData" subfolder off the main share.
In the test environment are using an AD domain with Win2008 R2 server and Win7x64 clients (all fully patched). All Group Policy settings are applied to the computer objects with user loopback mode enabled.
I have closely following the documentation, case study, blogs provided by Microsoft about how to setup Redirected Folders, Offline support, Security settings needed etc. I am sure it's not security related as the same behaviour happens even when everyone is provided with FULL access to the share & file system.
Any advice or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks Makes.
Problem Descripton
1. User uses PC disconnected from the network. They update some document files within an offline redirected folder or desktop.
2. User connects PC to network. They then switch it on and then login AD.
3. Sync Center on taskbar doesn't appear for a long time... When it does appear update local files haven't been synced with server version.
No error indicated within Sync Center at this time, but following entry appears in Windows Application event log

4. Manually initiate a "sync all" from within Sync Center. Reports syncing in progress but following entry appears in event log almost immediately

5. The "Sync Progress" continues for around 10-15 mins before a "Sync Failed" message displayed in Sync Center results (no other details in message).
6. No matter how many times the PC is rebooted the problem remains. Only fix we have found is to flush out the local cache before the sync will work again.
