Hi there
I am running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP2, 32bit. It is a terminal server. There is a mapped drive which will show as "disconnected network drive". If you double click on it, it will go into the drive but it wouldn't show you the total size and free space and continue to show you as a disconnected network drive. The only way to fix this is to restart the server.
I have tried removing the drive. Then the drive still shows in the my computer. If you right click and disconnect, it pops a message saying "The network connection could not be found." If you add the drive via GUI in my computer, that drive letter is not available. I tried mapping the drive via command prompt but that didnt' help either.
I also tried using the net use * /del command to remove and that doesn't help . After restarting the server, I mapped the drive using the persistenace YES switch but the issue has come back after few days.
There is an application which uses that drive and the drive letter and if "my computer" says disconnected, the software won't work. I cannot change the path to a unc path like\\servername\sharename in the software.
I googled and found somewhere where they suggested to remove the registry key. Even after removing the registry, I had to restart the server and after few days, the issue came back.
I am running Symantec Antivirus version 10.1.0.394. I googled and some one suggested it might be symantec causing this issue and gave a symantec link but that link doesn't work either. I am not in a position where I can upgrade the antivirus to a newer version. I believe this issue came when I installed symantec remote agent on this terminal server. Symantec Backup exec version 2010 R3 is up-to-date as we speak.
I am pulling my hair and would really appreciate your help.
Regards,
