I have a Windows Server 2008 which is reporting wrong free disk space. Windows Explorer and Computer Management are reporting the same issue, while chkdsk show the correct values.
Current situation is as follows:
Windows Explorer.
D:
Total Size - 410 GB
Free Space - 602 GB
With use, it seems that the Free Space is going up.
Chkdsk reports following:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.
430022655 KB total disk space.
189031660 KB in 101365 files.
46976 KB in 3750 indexes.
0 KB in bad sectors.
189503 KB in use by the system.
65536 KB occupied by the log file.
240754516 KB available on disk.
4096 bytes in each allocation unit.
107505663 total allocation units on disk.
60188629 allocation units available on disk.
Not sure what other info you'd like...
But I'm stumped.. Can't find any reference to this issue anywhere...
This is our TFS Prod server, so at this point, I can afford bringing it down/reboot.
I would like to diagnose this issue before I resort to extreme measures. (backup/format/restore/etc).
Thanks
