Windows 2008 - Shortcuts not shown in "Open" or "Save as" dialog

Hello,

We used to have a Windows 2003 R2 Server that has a VBS script who creates shortcuts on a network share.

We moved it to Windows 2008, shortcuts are still created, we can see them in the explorer but we noticed that these shortcuts are not shown in an "Open" or "Save as" dialog from Outlook, Word or notepad by example ! That's strange and it's embarassing.

I've tried to use a previous version of cscript (5.6 on windows 2003), I've tried to create them with powershell (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/1755186f-f2df-4957-841a-396306230b98/), with the utility "shortcut.exe" and with "Nirsoft's nircmd utility." And even if I create the shortcut with Windows 2008's explorer, and if I copy it on the network, the result is always the same, the shortcut won't be shown in the dialog box.

I've also noticed that shortcuts created by the Windows 2003 server have a size of 1 kB, whereas with the 2008 server, shortcuts have a size of 2 or 3 kB.

Does anyone have an idea why these shortcuts are not shown ? What has changed with Windows 2008 ?

Best regards,

Matthieu
