Hi,
We have implemented a DFS environment for a customer with multiple branch offices.
The data on the branch offices is replicated via DFS-R to several data centre servers. The replicated data for each branch office is placed on a dedicated hard disk partition on the data center servers.
The problem is: the size of each partition on the data center servers is small and they need to be resized.
As a best solution for this issue is to convert the existing ‘basic’ partitions to dynamic instead of basic and to copy the existing replicated data to the new dynamic volume on the same data center server
Both disks on the branch as well as on the data center servers are NTFS
Questions:
- Does DFS (R+N) support dynamic discs?
- Is it possible to have the following configuration: basic disks on the branch servers and dynamic discs on the replication partners in the data center? Will DFS live with this combination?
I have searched the Technet and googled for such a configuration, however, no avail.
Are there any Microsoft statements regarding this issue? If yes, could you please point me to it or to another ‘official’ link?
Thank you very much in advance for your swift feedback\reply.
