unable to access file share using CNAME

we are running windows server 2008 R2 across the board.

we provide file share access for our customers and we like the idea of hiding the actual file server name so we'd like to create a CNAME with the company name, so if the company is blah, then we create a CNAME of blah and file share of blah-share so when they try to access the share they would type in \\blah\blah-share and they are in.

this was working fine during our prove of concept, but now that we are in the production it's not working for some reason. I found lots of articles talking about loop back protection and disable restrict name checking or something like that but they all didn't help.

do you guys have any other ideas?

Thanks
