Folder Redirection problem – Computer suddenly cant se the network path.

Hi.

I have been working on a school in Denmark for 2 years now, where we use folder redirection for all users. It has been working fine for almost 2 years but for a month ago we started to discover a strange problem on some of our laptop client.

The problem is that the folder redirection on some of our laptops suddenly has stopped working. We found out that it happened because the computers no longer were able to connect to the shared location where the Windows folders are redirected to. (\\servername\user\students\%username%) There is no problem in connecting to the user’s folder (\\servername\user) but then the computer isn’t able to see the student’s folder where all the users redirected folders is placed. If we try to type in the direct path (\\servername\user\students\username) an error message appears. The error says:  The path refers to a location that is unavailable. It can be on the hard drive of this computer or on a network. Verify that the disk is inserted correctly and that you are connected to the Internet or network, and then try again. If it is still not found the information may have been moved to another location.

Under normal circumstances it could be a permission problem, where some permissions has been set incorrectly, but it isn’t. As I wrote the system has been working for almost 2 years and no permissions changes has been made, and the problem does only happens to some few clients. I have been working on the problem for a month now and, I just can’t find any solution. The only way we can fix it, is to reinstall the computers. At first we thought that it could be the solution, but after some days new computers starts to have the same problem. We have only discovered the problem on our laptops. We have disabled offline files for all users.

Is there anyone there has an idea about what can course this problem, or perhaps has an idea about how we can fix it?
