Hello everyone,
I have a question about DFS namespace (NOT replication, I do not intend on using DFS-R, only DFS-N). I did search around the technet forums and the internet, but I wasn't able to find an answer to my specific question.
I have 5 profiles shares :
\\server1\profiles\<username>
[...]
Note : the Server1 to 6, are actually only ressources in a cluster, but I don't think it change anything as far as DFS-N is concerned.
I want to know, with a domain namespace, if I can "aggregate" all my profiles under : \\domainName\Root\Profiles\ with all the profiles listed under it, (with the target folders pointing to "\\ServerX\profiles\"). Is that possible ? I'm asking, because in my test environnement(2008 R2 servers), when I try to do that, only one of the target folder get listed, not the other one. I don't know if it's by design, or I did a mistake...
Also, I read there is a lot of problems with offlines files and DFS-N, because the offlines files uses only the beginning of the path, but all the post I found about it are 4 years old. Does the issue still exist with Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 and Windows 7/8 ?
Thanks in advance,
Adam
