Customer has reported issues from a recent migration between two windows 2008 servers. The migration of their systems was successful, however reports from the staff stating that data was now missing. In performing some investigation on the concern, it was found that on the systems experiencing the issue, offline files has been enabled and that those systems reported sync errors. In reviewing the data located in the offline cache (CSC) it seems that the data is available. Are there any tools that would he helpful in the recovery of such data.
In speaking to the customer, they had also mentioned that one of more of these systems experienced issues with syncing files on the new server. On those systems they ran the steps in the KB article to reset that local offline cache:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230738
In the above I would assume that the data from that database is hard deleted from the system. If those files are not hard deleted, is there any possibility of file recovery from those deletions. Currently the customer is interested in any options that would allow for the recovery of these files from either a system that had the KB fixit run or not had it run.
