I'm using Backup Exec 2010 R2 to backup my DFS shares nightly. Everything seems to be working fine, except on the branch office server where my DFS shares are being replicated using DFS Replication. On that remote server, I get a message every night for each of my DFS shares as follows:
Log Name: DFS Replication
Source: DFSR
Date: 1/13/2012 11:45:04 PM
Event ID: 5014
Task Category: None
Level: Warning
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: serverName.domainName.local
Description:
The DFS Replication service is stopping communication with partner <serverName> for replication group domainName\shareName due to an error. The service will retry the connection periodically.
Additional Information:
Error: 9033 (The request was cancelled by a shutdown)
Connection ID: 7CB9D5A9-6312-4B6D-B2AC-92341C319247
Replication Group ID: 6DE88312-E202-401D-81F4-511FA6A3A6FD
The error occurs right around the time that the backup begins on the DFS shares, so I'm pretty sure it's related to that. However, I wouldexpect to see a message more along these lines (copied from the internet):
Event ID=1102
Severity=Informational
The DFS Replication service has temporarily stopped replication because another
application is performing a backup or restore operation. Replication will resume
after the backup or restore operation has finished.
Event ID=1104
Severity=Informational
The DFS Replication service successfully restarted replication after a backup
or restore operation.
Seems to me I have a misconfiguration somewhere. Like I said, files are replicating, everything seems to be working normally, just this continual error message every night.
I have BackupExec set to "automatically select open file technology", maybe I need to have it set to explicitly use Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service instead?
