I'm adding a member to a replication group that has about 500GB of data. I first pre-seeded this server with the data and then ran the "DFSRdiag filehash" on several files and folders to make sure the files were the same, which they were. I then added the server to the replication group and replication started shortly after. As I was monitoring things on the newly added server, I checked the staging folder and noticed that it's filling up with data. I'm also getting multiple events on the newly added server that the staging folder has had to be cleared.
Does the DFSR service have to move files to the staging folder in order for it to verify it's file hash? I thought that if I had pre-seeded this server, this wouldn't have had to take place. That being said, the network activity on the server is low and indicates that these files are not actually being replicated. On the source server, the staging folder is non-active.
1. Does the DFSR service have to move files to the staging folder in order for it to verify it's file hash?... (If so, why?, this seems so inefficient)
2. Is this activity normal?
3. Does it appear that the pre-seeding was done correctly?
Thanks!
