DFS 2008R2: Access namespace from outside domain

Hello,

We've setup a DFS namespace in a 2008R2 domain, which works fine from workstations/servers inside the domain.

This namespace is using FQDN referrals (DfsDnsConfig:1)

When trying to access the namespace from a workstation ouside the domain, the following appears:

- Start / Run / \\DOMAIN.LOC\NAMESPACE [enter]

- A windows security popup appears, I enter my domain account/password (permissions are OK)

- A new popup appears with following message: "Windows cannot access \\DOMAIN.LOC\NAMESPACE, check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network...." (error code: 0x80070043 The network name cannot be found)

- When trying to diagnose with dfsutil (>dfsutil diag viewdfspath \\DOMAIN.LOC\NAMESPACE) following message appears:

Destination Path <\\DOMAIN.LOC\NAMESPACE> is inaccessible
Could not execute the command successfully
SYSTEM ERROR - The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you
can contact the server that authenticated you.

Remarks:

- The DNS resolution is of course OK from the workstation

- When trying to access the shared folder directly from the server (\\servername\shared_target_folder ) it works !

Would anybody have any ideas / remarks ?

Thanks a lot,

Vincent
