Background:
- Windows 2003 R2 system with 500GB LUN (HP EVA) mounted over fibre to a folder on the system drive (as opposed to a drive letter).
- Recently resized the LUN and volume from 500GB to 1TB with no data loss using HP's Command View to increase the LUN size, and the DISKPART utility to increase the size of the Windows NTFS partition to use the new unpartitioned space.
- The Partition now encompasses all of the 1TB LUN.
Issue:
- Disk Management (local or remote) correctly reports the partition as being 1024GB/1TB
- Diskpart shows the correct partition size (also 1TB)
- CHKDSK reports 1073736373 KB (1TB) as well
- The disk's properties (right click -> properties) "incorrectly" reports the disk as being 500GB
The system has been restarted, chkdsk (with -F option) run, and the LUN manually un-mounted and re-mounted (none of these resolved the mismatch).
Data can both be written to and read from with no issue.
There's currently only 383 GB used on the partition, so i don't know if data can successfully be written past the 500GB threshold.
While part of me thinks this might be cosmetic, another fears that something adverse could occur if the symptom remains unaddressed and data is allowed to be written to the partition in excess of 500GB.
Does anyone have thoughts or a solution?
Thanks in advance.
