hi there, i got two W2008 R2 Standard servers (ServerA and ServerB) I want to setup DFS replication with.  DFS services is installed on both servers (matter of fact, I'm DFSing another folder on that box that I performed many months ago).  Anyways, the issue is this:

If I launch DFS Mgmt tool on ServerA, select New Replication Group.., select Multipurpose replication group >> Enter Name for Replication Group >> When I click Add (before I get prompted to add a computer), I receive the following popup error: The program cannot open the required dialog box because it cannot determine whether the computer named "<domain controller name> is joined to a domain.  Close this message, and try again".  I click Close and I get another popup box "The RPC Server is unavailable."

I rebooted the domain controller in question and that didn't solve the issue.  I get this issue if I try to use DFS mgmt on serverA and ServerB.  I checked Event Log on ServerA and the domain controller and I don't see any errors..the domain controller seems healthy.  ServerA and ServerB already have DFS replication turned on for another folder...so it is odd that I cannot perform the task now.

Just for kicks, I went to another server (called ServerC) which has DFS and WIndows 2008 Standard (not R2) running.  I launched DFS tool and went through the same screens as I did on ServerA.  When I get to the Add step, I'm able to add servers (including ServerA and ServerB) -- and it looks like I will be able to complete the server setup.

I think I will be able to complete my setup on ServerC but I would like to figure out why I cannot use the DFS tool on sj1wfe05 & sj1wfe06.  ServerA, ServerB, and ServerC are in the same domain and the domain has only two domain controllers.

we are not running windows f/w on any servers or domain controllers.

thanks in advance.
