Does DFS Replication work even if one of the namespace servers has been set to 'disabled'?

Hi there,

We implemented a domain based DFS-N in a branche office and for HA and backup reasons in the main office.

Unfortunately for some reasons DFS clients in the branche access the DFS Namespace in the main office, which should not be accessed by DFS clients. In a further step we need to implement DFS-R, so that files are replicated from branche to main office and vice versa.

I am aware, that DFS-N and DFS-R can bee treated separetly, but an amount of uncertainity remains. All servers are W2K8 R2 SP1, W2K8 domain.

Question:

Does DFS Replication work even if one of the namespace servers (in this case in the main office) has been set to 'disabled'?

Are there any known restrictions on replication?

How are DFS clients (Windows 7) affected?

Thank you in advance for your help.
